PROJECT BRIEF

Hugh’s Room Live is a non-profit dinner and listening room in Toronto, Ontario with a long history in the live music industry. Its stage was frequented by some of the finest and most acclaimed folk, jazz and blues singers from around the world. While industry insiders were all-too-familiar with the club, the brand had grown stale and the organization was struggling to reach a new audience in the difficult business of filling seats.

We were approached in 2019 to rebuild and reimagine the creative assets for the company. Under the governorship of a volunteer board of directors, we were tasked with working with the programming team to brand a number of upcoming musical series to attract a younger audience. We developed content to support these new music programs on social media channels and supplied their team with vibrant new photography to capture a new energy they wanted brought back into the venue.

The new art direction featured custom illustrations and bold splashes of colour capture the spectrum of arts that flowed through the venue.

Shows that were promoted using our assets saw ticket sales – on average – grow 68% from regular programming initiatives. Given how hard this industry has been hit by the pandemic, we continue to support this incredible venue on a volunteer basis as they switch to digital live streams of the music we love.
